ECOCONSTRUCTION & MAINTENANCE
The Eco-construction & Maintenance Department upkeeps and improves the project site and our buildings using a mix of traditional and ecological building methods and natural locally sourced materials like clay, reedbed, agave wood and stone.
COMMUNICATION & EDUCATION

The Communication & Education department oversees the dissemination of information, research and literature produced by Sunseed and manage all the educational activities organized: courses, guided tours and open days. It represents the project locally, nationally and internationally.
ORGANIC GARDENING

The Organic Growing Department manage Sunseed eleven gardens using organic and permaculture principles and practices based on observations of the natural environment. At Sunseed we maximise the reuse of household and human waste through composting.
PROJECTS
APPROPIATE TECHNOLOGIES
Appropriate Technology Department designs, installs and maintains our whole energy and water infrastructure and promotes projects in areas such as biogas, solar energy and bicycle-powered machines. Sunseed is off-the-grid and there are no power lines, water or gas pipes coming into our village.
SUSTAINABLE LIVING

The Sustainable Living (SL) department co-ordinates the smooth running of Sunseed’s low-impact lifestyle. It oversees our Food Policy to ensure an ethical, local and healthy vegetarian diet. It also works with solar cooking and other appropriate technologies.
DRYLANDS REGENERATION
​The Drylands Management department aims to understand the process of vegetal succession, degradation and development of soil, flora, fauna and water resources management.
